Freshman Year

  • Freshman Onboarding: Study skills, Time Management, Transcripts & GPA, Communication, Relationships, Involvement, etc.

 

Sophomore Year

Fall

  • Take the PSAT/NMSQT test (optional)

 

Spring

  • Sophomore Parent meeting: College 101
  • College & Career assessments are offered using web-based software
  • ACT Aspire test

Junior Year

Fall

  • Junior Parent meeting: College 101
  • Study and take the PSAT/NMSQT to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship (optional)
  • ACT preparation—take course offered at KCC or elsewhere and study on your own
  • Attend college fairs in the metro area and college visits at KCC
  • Financial Aid Seminar at KCC
  • Attend college visits at KCC and visit college campuses

 

Spring

  • College planning discussions with the students
  • Attend college visits at KCC and visit college campuses
  • Take the ACT!
  • Extension of the career assessments results from sophomore year along with independent research using the web-based software to gather information about colleges, degrees, careers, etc

 

Senior Year

  • College planning discussions with the students: deadlines, college applications, scholarships, letters of recommendation, etc.
  • Senior Parent meeting: College 101
  • ACT preparation if needed and taking the ACT an additional time
  • Financial Aid Seminar
  • Attend college fairs in the metro area
  • Attend college visits at KCC and visit college campuses
