Meeting a Greater Need after 59 years of Service
Since 1951, Kansas City Christian School (KCCS) has been striving to meet the educational needs of the Kansas City Christian community. Beginning in the fall of 2008, the fully accredited school expanded to serve the growing population of southern Johnson County at 133rd and Nall at the former Oxford Park Academy. Preschool (ages 2.5 and up), Kindergarten and First Grade currently meet at the facility with additional grades to be added each year.
Mrs. Pat Fair directs the preschool program, Mrs. Martha Couric serves as the kindergarten teacher and Mrs. Karen Godfrey is our first grade teacher.
Mrs. Fair, known as Miss Pat to her students, has served as the Preschool director for KCCS for 17 years. She holds an Elementary Education degree from Hobe Sound Bible College, is certified for her position, and is sought out throughout the community by families who desire a challenging and loving preschool experience. Miss Pat believes that “a child’s first experience with school should occur in a rich learning environment that is safe, positive, and fun”.
Mrs. Couric, brings a wealth of 22 years of teaching experience (11 with KCCS) supported by a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Texas Woman’s University. She enriches the school with a certification in Elementary Music, and enjoys “showing off” our talent with programs in Fall, at Christmas and in Spring. “My job is to create an atmosphere in which a love and excitement for learning is caught, and where students feel secure to take risks in learning new things every day.”
Mrs. Godfrey transitioned to the Oxford Park Campus after 9 years of teaching first grade at KCCS. She holds a teaching degree from Emporia State with an emphasis in Early Childhood and
Special Needs. Her greatest joy is “to hear a child read God’s Word for the first time!”
